Jennifer: As long as I live, there is no one else who could fill that space in my heart, Jack. And I don't want to fill it with bitterness, and I don't want to fill it with anger.
You know, it was Christmas when I accepted your proposal, and I accepted it because I knew that it was meant to be. And how many times did we think we were never going to make it to the altar, Jack? But in the end, we did. We did because it was meant to be. So I'm telling you, I don't want to turn my back on destiny. I don't want to turn my back on you.

~~~~~~~~~~
Jack: You know, I meant what I said last night.
Jennifer: Remind me again?
Jack: Oh, that's right. You were asleep. I said that I loved you.
Jennifer: Oh, that.
Jack: Yes, that. That.
*kiss*
Jennifer: And I believe I said that I loved you too. So very much.
~~~~~~~~~~

Jennifer: Having coffee with you makes me completely homicidal, so what makes you think that we could live together again?
Jack: Jennifer, I think maybe you better go easy on the caffeine!
Now tell me this; isn't life just a little bit more interesting when we're together?
Jennifer: Professional wrestling is interesting, but I don't want to live in the ring!
Jack: Do you ever think those matches aren't completely spontaneous?
Jennifer, closing her eyes, squeezing her hands: That's it. The fingers are tightening, they're tightening around your neck -
Jack: The point is -
Jennifer: -you're taking your last breath-
Jack: Don't you think we owe it to Abby-
Jennifer: -your eyes are rolling back-
Jack: -to completely explore the pros and cons of living together?
Jennifer: There are no pros! And the cons- Abby shouldn't have to grow up with her mother in the big house for offing her daddy!

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: Now I don't want to strangle you, I want a very sharp knife!
Jack: Can we just try to stick to the point, Jennifer?
~~~~~~~~~~

Jack: I gotta make a living! I've gotta support my daughter and my...Jennifer.
Greta: Does this mean that you and Jennifer have a future?
Jack: We most emphatically have a future - as Abigail Deveraux's mother and father. Anything more than that is up to that big matchmaker in the sky, barring any unforeseen occurences such as... warm baby oil raining down... *laughs*

~~~~~~~~~~
Jack: The Bank of Jack is an excellent investment.
Greta: Oh really? Says who? Jennifer perhaps?
Jack: Why would you say that?
Greta: Because you haven't mentioned her in the past five minutes, and I would say that's a record.
~~~~~~~~~~

Hope: You keep talking about your responsibility to Abby, that you've consented to live with Jack for her sake.
Jennifer: That's the only reason.
Hope: Ok. What happens when he takes off again? You told me he was always leaving, wasn't dependable...
Jennifer: But Hope, he was trying to support his family, and he didn't always use good judgment, yes, he made a lot of mistakes, but he was just trying to give Abby everything that she wanted. The other thing about him is that he teaches Abby to think big. To have dreams, you know, and pursue them...
Hope smiles knowingly.
Hope: You know what I think?
Jennifer: I know what you think, you think Jack's a nutcase...
Hope: I think you still want to be married to Jack

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: Can't you see I killed that baby! Hope trusted me with her baby and I killed him!
Jack: No, you didn't, you didn't kill anyone!! It's not your fault! It's not your fault!
Jennifer: I tried so hard to get him -
Jack: Of course you tried, you tried! You did everything you could. You didn't even think about yourself, you only thought about him!
Jennifer: He's so little, he was so little...
Jack: Of course he's little! That'll make him resilient, kids are tough! And there's a lot of people here working hard to find him.
Jennifer: He's just a baby, Jack, don't you remember Abby, in her little carseat? Just a baby...
Jack: Of course I remember Abigail! And you did everything you could for JT, you did. You are the best person I know. The best person...
~~~~~~~~~~

Greta: She can't think it's her fault, Jack.
Jack: With Jennifer, if they don't find that baby, she's never going to be the same.
Greta: She's lucky to have you tonight. On a lot of levels.
Jack, shaking his head: I am no good for her. I wish I was, but I'm...
Greta: Of course you are. Maybe more than you realize.

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: Well, it's because of Jack that I'm okay. He was so brave, and he was so strong.
Alice: He was there when it counted.
Jennifer: Yeah, he was. And he kept me calm, and he kept me focused... I mean, Gram, he actually held down the back of this car and kept it from falling over while I was climbing into the back seat. And then he told me to jump, and I would have never had the courage to do that if he hadn't been there. And then, with the paramedics, you know, he made sure that I took these pills so that I could just go to sleep. He saved my life, Gram.
Jack's "If only" reverse psychology speech
Jennifer: It would be a miracle if that baby survived falling into the river!
Jack: Miracles do happen every day. Isn't that what your grandmother just said? You gotta believe in miracles right? *pause* No. No, you're not going to answer me, are you? You won't hear it because you... you want to cry.
Jennifer: What? How can you say that?
Jack: I don't know. I don't know. It just seems that all these tears and this guilt is just really kind of self-indulgent.
Jennifer: Oh, that is really what I need to hear right now, Jack!
Jack: Why don't we wait until we find the baby before we go into this grieving -
Jennifer: What if this were Abby, how would you be feeling right now?
Jack: I would be out there looking for her. I wouldn't be sitting here playing God!
Jennifer: What?
Jack: You think that everybody who lives or dies in this world has something to do with you, like you've made some decision about it. When you don't! And you had nothing to do with JT falling out the car door. You didn't open the door and say, "Hey JT, I'm gonna live, you're gonna die, bye now"!
Jennifer: Oh, this is a fine time to be joking about something like this!
Jack: I'm not joking about it! I'm saying it was an act of God, not an act of Jennifer!
Jennifer: And all I'm saying is if only I had stayed home, if I had just -
Jack: Oh, Jennifer, if only, if only - life is full of 'if only's'! Everytime something terrible happens, we all say 'If only this, if only that... if only I had waited ten seconds before I left the house, if only I had left when I was supposed to, then everything would be fine and wonderful.' When that is not only not the case, but it is sad, pointless, and a waste of energy, because life does not work like that! You couldn't stop this from happening Jennifer, and you can't let what happened destroy your life now!
~~~~~~~~~~

Jennifer: All I'm saying is that I've seen a new side to my husband -
Hope: Husband?
Jennifer: Husband? Where did that come from? Hope, we haven't been married for years, I never even think of him like that, ever, never, ever!
Hope: Okay, it's fine, I believe you! But when you say you're seeing another side of Jack, what exactly are you talking about?
Jennifer: Well, there's just been a couple of times when - moments, really, when he just seems like the man... the Jack that I...
Hope: The Jack you fell in love with? The Jack you're... still in love with?

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer has said she found a new word that describes Jack.
Jack: Let's see... so this word, this adjective - I'm assuming it's an adjective, unless it's an adverb, couldn't be a preposition, definitely not a proposition -
Jennifer: Stop!
Jack: So this word...
Jennifer: Okay, this word is a noun.
Jack: Noun... ha ha...
Jennifer: The word is... hero.
Jack: Hero.
Jennifer: Yes. You're my hero, and Abby's hero, and anyone else who was affected by you saving my life.
Jack, shrugging it off: Jennifer, it was just all in a day's work -
Jennifer: No, you be quiet, let me finish, okay? You showed me what it means to be a man, and you showed me what it means to be the head of a family.
~~~~~~~~~~

Jennifer: You are a real hero, I told you that. But I don't want to be fooled by the fact that I feel very close to you... part of me wants to hug you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did for me, for our family, when you saved my life.
Jack, quietly: That would be okay by me.
Jennifer: But I can't let myself, because that might be a moment that I can't turn away from.
Jack, passionately: Don't you hear how specious that argument is? You can't feel what you feel because then you might feel it? If you can't turn away, Jennifer, than maybe you're not meant to turn away! Good Lord, we're not talking about controlling cholesterol, we're talking about love!

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: For one thing, Jack, I am not your 'dear', okay?
Jack: You could be. No options are off-limits. All doors are open. Jennifer... why not?
Jennifer: What do you mean by 'why not'? Why not what?
Jack: Why not go for it, Jennifer? Make an assumption or two. Take a few liberties... risk. Who knows, we might actually get somewhere. Do you remember the words that we said on our wedding day?
Jennifer: We're divorced, Jack.
Jack: Does that mean you've forgotten the words we said together before God?
Jennifer: Oh, no. I will never forget those words.
Jack: We said it was for life. We made promises, we...
Jennifer: Yeah... we broke promises too.
Jack We... we drifted. We didn't stray that far. We just drifted away. If we... if we tried, we could find our way back. Jennifer, all I'm saying is just give it a whirl. Who knows? We could see where it takes us.
~~~~~~~~~~

Jennifer: I had no idea that I was going to play second fiddle to just about everything else in your life.
Jack: No, no, you were not second fiddle - you were the conductor! Everytime you wave the baton, you make everything happen . My life - this sounds so trite, but it is so accurate - you make it worth living.
Jennifer, in tears: Why are you telling me this now? Why didn't you tell me then, when it would have meant something to me?
Jack: Doesn't it mean anything now? Does it mean anything at all?
Jennifer: No. It doesn't mean anything. I can't let it mean anything.
Jack: You mean you won't let it mean anything - but it could.

~~~~~~~~~~
Jack: Speaking of stories...do you know what my favorite one is?
Jennifer: Mmm...Winnie the Pooh? *laughs*
Jack: No. It's you and me. It's the story of us.
~~~~~~~~~~

Jack: You know, there was one promise that, unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep. It was to get you a diamond, fresh out of the South African diamond mines.
Jennifer: You never promised me that...
Jack: I know, I promised myself. Well, this [engagement ring] isn't straight out of Africa, but it is... straight from my heart. And if you'll notice, it bears no similarity to the first ring, in case you were thinking I was suggesting we go down that road again. I know that first stime, it seemed like the biggest leap we'd ever take, and this time seems even bigger... but not to take it? Not to take it... that is so much more frightening to me. The thought of losing you... I think it's time for 'Jack and Jennifer forever.'

~~~~~~~~~~
Jack to Jennifer: We know our way around all our X, Y, and G spots, let's not be afraid of it!
~~~~~~~~~~

Alice warns Jack that Greta and Jennifer are outside, alone.
Alice: Right now, I believe you should turn your attention to the drama that is unfolding outside.
Jack: Huh?
Alice: Two women! A bottle of Tequila! And one man they're both interested in! Heaven only knows what can come of that combination!

~~~~~~~~~~
Greta is drunk and talking to Jennifer. Greta believes Jack's lie about being gay, and Jennifer is totally clueless.
Greta: You know what? I'm glad we're alone, because I want to talk to you about Jack. You know, his - *starts laughing* - You know...
Jennifer: His... what?
Greta: His dilemma. You know - is he or isn't he?
Jennifer: Is Jack or isn't he what?
Greta: Jenn, I like you, I do, but you must know yourself that it can never be. I mean, how could it be?
Jennifer, on the defense: Well, you know, I was just about to say the same thing to you. I mean, Jack may flirt with you, and he may date you even - but Jack will never love you.
Greta, laughing: NO DUH!
Later...
Jennifer: What am I missing here, Greta?
Greta, drunk as ever: You're missing passion. And sex. And sexional passion - sexual passion.
Jennifer, upset: Are you saying that I am not sexy enough for Jack?
Greta: Not the way he needs *laughs*
Jennifer: Oh, and I suppose you're going to tell me that you're exactly what he needs?
Greta: No, no, no... 'cause I'm too curvular.
Jennifer: Curv...? You know what Greta, that's not a word. Give me that (tequila) bottle.
Greta: It's a word!! You know what, I think we should go look it up in the dictionary!
~~~~~~~~~~

Jealous Jennifer: Where exactly are you bringing Greta tonight? To the library? Did the two of you start a book club?

~~~~~~~~~~
Jack to Jenn: My loving you is no game. I know every little... every curve of your body. The way your hair clings to your neck when you wake up in the morning... The small sigh in the back of your throat when you kiss...
~~~~~~~~~~

Jack to Jenn: Why did you invite me into the shower with you? Is this your game? Are you trying to show me what I've lost? Are you trying to break my heart? Are you teasing? Are you trying to show me that you still love me? Jennifer, I meant what I said before, I meant it. I love you. You challenge and excite me. You taught me what love is. The joy of being a parent. I look forward to the sound of the key in the lock because it's you coming home. And I will not give up. I will wait forever if I have to - forever. If you would just open your arms and welcome me - welcome me back... as your husband, your friend, your lover.

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: What are you doing?
Jack: Remembering.
Jennifer: Remembering what?
Jack: Another night like this one, a long time ago... waiting over a similar story, for which you won a Ferraro Award in the end.
Jennifer: I think that was the last time I felt this pumped up with adreneliine in a happy, nervous sort of way. I mean, outside of childbirth.
Jack: Well, I was equally pumped up both times, even though they were both your moments.
Jennifer: Well, I think that you had a lot to do with both of them.
Jack: It wasn't so much the article of course, it was you. The air was... rife.
Jennifer: Don't start, Jack Deveraux.
Jack: That was the night I first decided I was going to kiss you. I didn't know when, but I knew it was going to be soon.
~~~~~~~~~~

Jack: Jennifer, do you remember our wedding?
Jennifer: How could you ask me that question? How could I forget our wedding?
Jack: No, not the wedding, the wedding reception after, you know, everything was a madhouse and we slipped away and I had the piece of paper with the speech I didn’t give you at the wedding.
Jenn:Yes, "From the day we first met, you surprised me and challenged me and engaged me in a way no other human being ever has."
Jack: You remember all of that?
Jenn: Nobody has ever said anything so beautiful. Not even close.
Jack: It was true. It still is. Everything I learned, felt, and valued from being with you, I’m going to keep with me until the day I die.
Jenn, tearfully: Me too.

~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer: Jack, I went after the wrong man on purpose.
Jack: The story of your life.
Jennifer: No. The story of my life after you.
