BEST RETURN: Matthew Ashford, Days
As soon as Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) returned to Salem, Days of our Lives fans knew that Jack couldn't be far behind. And right we were, because Jack and Jennifer epitomize the term "star-crossed supercouples." And while, through the years, a variety of actors have taken on the role of Mr. Deveraux, the part belongs to Matthew Ashford. He has just the right blend of pathos, smarts, and humor. Not to mention that every beat of his heart is for his daughter Abby and for the undisputed love of his life - Jennifer Horton.

BEST COMEBACK - Days of our Lives' Matthew Ashford
From colliding with Jennifer at the airport to his clumsy attempt at waitering at Greta's coronation, Ashford stumbled and bumbled in true Jack fashion. Five actors have played the role over the years, but Ashford's comedic timing, charm and chemistry with Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) should be front-page news in Salem. Too bad Jack isn't editor-in-chief of The Spectator anymore.

#4. Welcome Back, Jack (Days of our Lives)
One of the most rewarding payoffs for fans is having a fave resume a role. When Melissa Reeves again stepped into Jennifer's shoes in October, 2000, long-time DAYS viewers clamored for Matthew Ashford's return so they could enjoy the "real" Jack and Jen. In February, Ashford aficionados got their wish. The actor's comic timing and fresh take on even most standard soap fare make us grateful for this second helping.
